A 21-year-old Friendswood woman was charged with DWI after police observed a vehicle traveling too closely behind another May 6 in the 400 block of East Parkwood. The woman, reportedly driving the vehicle in front, initially said she did not know the driver behind her but later recanted. She failed a field sobriety test and refused breath and blood tests, police said. During booking, an officer noticed the woman had spilled an alcoholic beverage in her purse. She also had an Adderall capsule, for which she did not have a prescription, police said. Bond was set at $1,000. The driver of the violator vehicle was released from the traffic stop.
The act contains several references to "derivatives" of compounds but the extent of this term is not fully clarified. Where unspecified it is thought to indicate derivatives which can be made from the specified compound in a single synthetic step, although such a definition would indicate that alkyllysergamide analogues would be uncontrolled. Where the derivatives are specified to be "structural derivatives" there is precedent that the statute applies whenever the structure could be converted to the specified derivatives in any number of synthetic steps.
